VINTAGE ILLINOIS GLASS COMPANY JUG JAR with WIRE WOODEN BAIL HANDLE 1926. This beautifully maintained vintage bottle is so very rare in this excellent condition. Made in Alton, Illinois almost 100 years ago. There are lots of old bottles are out there, but few in this condition with the wooden handle so well-preserved. The height is 9 3/8″ by 4 3/4″ diameter. It would hold about a half gallon. The original stopper may have been cork, but that has long since disappeared. The neck opening is not threaded as in later models. This would be a wonderful addition to a bottle collector’s treasure trove or for anyone just starting to collect. Or for decorating with a farmhouse style. This collector’s bottle has a very pale lavender color like old glass has. My camera with a polaroid filter takes out the purple color in the photograph, but I think one of the photos actually shows that pale lavender. This is a great price for a gorgeous bottle jug.
