Wonderful examples of the Kitchen Chemistry collection created by the Pilgrim Glass Company artisans with their handle knobs and bamboo/reed handles – they are a cylinder / drum shape straight sided container narrowing to a cylinder neck opening with a solid cork lid. The small canister has a complete handle while the larger piece’s handle has some missing wrap. Dimensions; Large – 6 3/4″ tall table to top of cork lid, 6 3/8″ from table to top of jar edge and 3 3/8″ table to bottom of shoulder x 7 1/8″ diameter bottom with a 2 1/8″ neck and 4 3/4″ diameter opening. Small – 3 7/8″ tall table to top of cork lid, 3 1/2″ from table to top of jar edge and 1 7/8″ table to bottom of shoulder x 3 3/4″ diameter bottom with a 1 3/4″ neck and 2 3/8″ diameter opening. Condition; Glass is As New, No Chips, Cracks, Scratches or Crazing – No Mends or Repairs. As Beautiful as when they first sat on the Shoppe shelf! The larger canister’s handle is missing some of its wrap. Notice the pontil mark or punt mark, the scar where the pontil, punty or punt was broken from a work of blown glass. The presence of this scar indicates that an art glass item, whether vase, bottle or bowl was blown freehand. This one has been smoothed, you have to look closely to see the’dent’ or touch to feel. The cork plug tops have hardened with age but is in good shape for display or non-food storage purposes. To use as a food canister (candy, legumes, condiments) new plugs are available at novelty shops or online.
