ART NOUVEAU Pressed Glass Powder Jar with Gilt Metal Handled Lid! WELCOME TO ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! Up for offer now. ITEM: With a gilt lid that bears not only a handle but also a swirling spray of florals (violets, I think), this vanity dresser jar features a container of pressed glass as opposed to cut. CONDITION: Looks and design are excellent! There is 1 tiny pinprick out of the glass on the inner edge of the jar – I had to run my finger around several times before I felt it; there are also visible straw marks within the glass, mostly on one panel, that happened in the pouring process. Lid is loose on the glass, just hold the handle and off it comes with no problem. METAL CONTENT: I don’t know what the base metal is. The gold overlay to the top of the lid looks very much like fire gilding but on the underside, the gilt looks more like a heavy coat of gold paint; I know it’s not but it sure does have the appearance! HALLMARKS: None that I can find. SIZE: The piece stands 4″ tall approx and the widest point is about 2-7/8″. FINAL COMMENTS: A lovely vanity item for any lady’s dressing table! However, if something is amiss, I will remedy the situation as quickly as possible. Please notify me asap if you intend on returning an item.
