Jar is 11 1/4 inches tall and 6 1/4 inches diameter. There is a manufacturing flaw in the glass on the bottom of the jar. The glass on the bottom of the right side is 1/4 inch thick while the left side is 1/2. Appears that jar was tilted while glass was hot causing more to run to one side. I don’t know what the jar was used for. Neck of the jar reads “one gallon to line” to arrow pointing upward with line above it. One side of jar reads “one gallon liquid” and “N C approved”. I live in North Carolina. Is that the meaning of NC? Bottom reads “Sealed BB 48″ What I believe is BB could be 33. The bottom looks as though it has a crack but it doesn’t. It is a part of the manufacturing defect. Bottom has the Owens-Illinois Glass Company makers mark with a 7 to the left of it. According to my research on the internet this indicates it was made in Alton, IL. To the right of the mark is he number 8 which indicates the last digit of the year it was made. Because the sealed date is 48 I believe the manufacturing date is 1948. It has a 9 at the bottom indicating the mold cavity number.
