Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A free-blown jar made from translucent, pale-green glass with a concave base and smooth pontil scar, a globular body with an indented neck line, a cylindrical neck with a slight lean, a flared and in-folded rim, and a pair of applied trail handles. Brilliant areas of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence provide a burst of color and nicely complement the vessel’s soft spring hues. Size: 4.3″ W x 4″ H (10.9 cm x 10.2 cm). Condition: A few areas of repair with small nicks and light adhesive residue along break lines. Light pitting, a few stable hairline fissures, light weathering film, and minor abrasions. Nice earthen deposits as well as great silver and rainbow iridescence throughout. Affordably priced, and perfect for collecting or gift-giving.
