GLASS SPIRAL WRYTHEN SWEETMEAT JAR, JAR AND COVER. A rarely surviving antique late Georgian wrythen blown glass sweetmeat jar or condiment jar and cover. Dating to the early 19th Century, circa 1820. The jar is hand blown as a twisted baluster body leading down to a narrow stem and a conical foot with snapped pontil under. The lid is similarly formed with ribbed detail and a round knop with a snapped pontil to the top. The lid fits well within the body of the jar. Cm or 5 1/4 inches. Width (at base): 5.9. Cm or 2 1/4 inches. In good antique condition, without damage or restoration, only expected age related wear to the underside rim. Please see the images provided which complement this description.
