You are purchasing a cookie jar with lid manufactured by the Fostoria Glass Company in the American Pattern (2056). The Outside of the jar and lid is in excellent condition. The inside lid of the cookie jar has two items that effect its condition. First, there is a small factory inclusion in the knob of the lid. See photographs (10,11). Second, the inside lip of the lid is rough and is chipped around much of its inside edge. None of the chips are significant meaning there is no large piece of glass missing from the edge. This chipping on the inside edge of the lid can not be seen when the lid is on the jar. It is only visible when the lid is removed from the jar. NOTE: I do not want to mislead anyone. The outside of this jar base and lid is in excellent condition. The inside edge of the jar lid has minor chipping around much of it’s circumference. Minor chipping means there are no significant pieces of glass missing. The edge is rough see photograph (12) again. Size: Cookie Jar with lid – 8 3/4 inches tall, without lid 5 3/4 inches tall, 5 3/4 inches diameter. This includes glasses, plates, sherbets, bowls, compotes, etc. And a punch bowl with cups. All pieces are Fostoria American (three mold marks on bottom). No pieces are American Whitehall or other. If I do not have the piece, I will let you know. Fostoria American are fairly heave glass pieces. NOTE: Fostoria American was made for over 30 years. If you are purchasing multiple pieces (stemware, tumblers, plates, etc) you may find there is a small difference in size and the exact formation of the “American Geometric” pattern. The difference is noticeable when two pieces are placed right next to each other. In a table setting the differences would not be noticeable. These differences are caused by an number of factors. The differences are a result of minor inconsistencies in the manufacturing process, the continue use of a mold over a long period of time and when creating a new mold. I have been collecting EAPG glass, depression glass, and other types of glass for a number of years. I have recently decided it is time to sell a large part of this collection. For example: Fostoria American, Anchor Hocking, May Fair, Federal Glass, Sharon Cabbage Rose, Imperial Glass, Candlewick etc. Notes/Comments on Vintage Glass. My items are available for sale in an “As Is” condition. This means the glass pieces were manufactured between 1890 and 1960 unless stated otherwise (most pieces were manufactured from 1900 to 1940). In many cases the quality of the glass does not equal what is being manufactured today. The manufacturing methods were not modern. The result of these manufacturing methods is they item may have. These items are not usually found in modern glass. These are to be EXPECTED in vintage glass. Also this glass was probably used at the kitchen or dining room table, it was then washed. It may have been taken in and out of the ice box or refrigerator. The results of these actions are that many of the pieces may exhibit surface scratches or other type of wear discontinuities. I will attempt to identity any discontinuities found in the glass, by describing the discontinuities and if possible showing them in my pictures (not always an easy thing to accomplish). I will do my best to describe the glass and identify discontinuities. It is possible I might describe a condition different than you would describe it. It is also possible in some cases we would both look at things differently. Read my description carefully. Look at the pictures carefully. Utilize the blowup the zoom feature. In doubt ask a question. This may help us both to “see” what the other one sees. The free listing tool. This item is in the category “Pottery & Glass\Cookware, Dinnerware & Serveware\Jars”.
