Fenton 9188 FN Favrene Grape & Cable Tobacco Jar W/ Lid Centennial Collection. We have been Fenton Art Glass Lovers and Collectors for over 50 years. This is a piece from our personal collection. Fenton 9188 FN Favrene Tobacco Jar Grape & Cable Pattern 2002 Centennial Collection LE: #1226 This Tobacco Jar has exceptional Favrene color. Favrene glass is the most difficult and, due to more labor required to produce and the fact that the reject rate was extremely high, the most expensive glass that Fenton made. Pure silver was added to the glass formula. The silver was migrated close to the surface by reheating the piece after it came out of the mould. If every thing was done perfectly the result would be a striking satiny blue color with silver highlights. Too much heat and the whole piece would turn a silver color. In my opinion this Tobacco Jar is extremely close if not spot on to what the glass makers were trying to achieve.
