Owens Illinois Glass Pickle Barrel. With Baling Wire and Wood Handle. Great condition for age. Left of logo “7” indicating plant 7 in Alton, Illinois. Right of logo “4” indicating date code, period also indicating 1944. Bottom of logo “4” indicates mold cavity/serial number. Does not have a lid. After this time production of glass not only slowed down, but was made less thick to conserve. This is still a thick glass jar. They phased out the diamond and O combo in the mid 50s. Duraglass only started being printed on them in the 1940s and was later phased out.
