Offered is this rare 1 gallon milk bottle with wood and wire handle marked Sangamon, I believe from the Sangamon Dairy of Springfield IL. I think this bottle was made in the 1940’s. It currently has an old cork stopper but I think originally, it was likely sealed with a paper or cardboard seal. About 11 inches tall and 6 1/2 inches in diameter. Owens-Illinois mark on the glass bottom. “Sangamon” is screen-printed on the face of the bottle. Heavy, weighing about 3 1/2 pounds. Great shape with no chips or cracks and has original handle. Does have some hardwater residue inside. Possibly could be cleaned with vinegar solution to brighten the glass.
