Offered here is a beautiful American Victorian Art satin glass of a pale pale pink colour shading to pale yellow biscuit barrel/ cookie jar. It is hand painted on both sides with raised blossoming fruit tree patterns. This is from the period after c1854 when Japan was opened to trade with the Americas. This period c1850 to c1890 is called Japonisme and culminated with many artistic items made in the United States to celebrate the new Japanese style. This jar is unsigned which was normal for that period and was probably made by the Mount Washington factory. It has the silver plated top and handle which was made by the Pairpoint factory and is shown in their catalogues’ of that period. It is in mint condition – the glass is perfect, the hand painting on the glass is perfect and there is almost no silver loss on the top and handle. It has been a loved cabinet piece. It is a 7″ to top of jar rim, 9 1/2″ to top of handle, 6″ wide at shoulder and 4″ wide at base.
