Have nothing in your houses that you do not consider to be beautiful or useful. Christofle Mustard Jar, Spoon and Blue Glass Insert – 1890’s. One of the most iconic pieces of tableware from the Christofle company is the silverplated mustard jar with a blue insert. Dating from the 1890’s, it is stamped and hallmarked C. Christofle who was its founder. The blue insert is 2 3/8 inches in diameter and stands 2 inches high. It is in perfect condition – no chips, no cracks and no fissures. The silverplated holder is very clean and in good condition, with a solidly attached hinge that works well. There is a small smudge on the inside of the lid. The spoon is a rare Christofle vermeil bowl (gold-plated) mustard spoon, measuring 4 ¾ inches long and fits perfectly. A small D is delicately engraved on the back of the spoon’s handle. The condition of the object is described as accurately as possible, including its character flaws. But that is really part of the attraction and enjoyment of an old piece.
