Victorian Hand Painted Art Glass Sweetmeat. Mount Washington Crown Milano. The ribbed, melon shaped, handled container comes with its original silver plate cover or lid, which is engraved with leaves and flowers, and has an ornate finial at the top. The inside of the lid is stamped: “Quadruple Plate”. The hinged silver plate handle has a double twisted rope design, separated by a ball at the top. The piece stands approximately 5.5 inches tall (when measured to the top of the finial on the cover), and approximately 7 inches tall (when measured to the top of the raised handle). It measures approximately 5.5 inches across at its widest point. The base is pontiled, with numbers and letters painted on the bottom, which appear to be “817” and “F”. The antique sweetmeat is in great, vintage condition, with no cracks, chips, scratches, stains, discolorations or repairs, nor any other damage that I can detect.
