Presented is a rare Tiffany & Co sterling silver and cut glass compote or jam jar, dating to the first quarter of the 1900s. The body of the jar is great quality clear glass, mounted with a sterling silver rim, lid, and handle. The lid of the jar opens by pressing the handle to one side, a very clever design. Great for any sort of jam, jelly, or other condiment, particularly colorful ones that will show through the clear glass nicely. This piece is in excellent condition. The handle/lid mechanism are working smoothly. The glass has no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. The silver has no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. This piece measures about 5 3/4 inches to the top of the handle, or about 3 5/8 inches to the rim, and measures about 3 1/2 inches in diameter. This piece weighs 352 grams.
